mohammad_byouk_qtel.jpgMohammad Byouk, Senior Manager, Consumer Multimedia – IPTV at Qatar telecom, Qtel, headed the implementation of the first Broad Band IPTV launched commercially by a leading telecom company in the Gulf and Middle East, using the first of its kind MPEG 4 – AVC technology to deliver satellite, Interactive Services and On Demand services over an ADSL 2+ access network in Qatar.

Mohammad has a 14-year experience in Video and Audio technologies, with the last 5 years spent on mastering the IPTV world of technologies, and models of implementations of such service in Qatar.

Starting his Career as a Video and Audio specialist at Qtel in 2001, with two conventional Microwave Distribution Systems, MMDS and MVDS and an analogue HFC system, then Head of operations and Head of engineering, he conducted the first IPTV field trial in coordination with Enton Company (United States) over a live ADSL access network in Doha in 2003.
Designing an end-to-end IPTV, system interactive service with the latest video codec, was a hard job he and his team overcame and successfully managed to bring the systems into operation in Dec 2005 and commercially launched with over 4,000 subscribers in May 2007.
