SeaChange, Argela Partner to Build Advanced Services Platform for Telco Operators DUBAI – SeaChange International and Argela used this week’s IPTV World Forum to announce a partnership in which the two companies have developed a platform that allows fixed and mobile telco operators to offer convergence applications to their customers. TISPAN’s IMS based IPTV model is being used to integrate seamlessly into operators’ existing service delivery platforms (SDP), enabling them to offer applications such as telephony, messaging, Internet access, mobility services, video on demand and personal video recording. The IMS architecture will allow operators to deliver and manage the new applications over a common platform, ensuring that consistent quality levels and user experiences are always maintained.
SeaChange, which is headquartered in the U.S. and maintains service, sales and distribution offices throughout EMEA, is drawing upon its expertise in software applications, services and solutions for IPTV and video on demand, and combining it with Argela’s proven record of expertise in next-generation telecom solutions. “We are excited to share a commitment with Argela with the common goal of expanding the types of services that enrich the overall video and increase subscriber loyalty and revenues for operators worldwide,” said Simone Sassoli, SeaChange’s vice president, broadband networks, for EMEA. The solution leverages SeaChange’s TV Navigator client middleware with Argela’s IPTV middleware. Already deployed in television operations worldwide, TV Navigator is a client middleware platform for telco cable and hybrid operators. Argela’s IPTV middleware allows operators to open up multimedia application development capabilities to third parties while still maintaining complete control. On Demand Group Entrenches to Support Growing Middle East and Eastern European Digital TV Markets DUBAI – This week at IPTV World Forum senior executives from Europe’s largest pay-television content aggregator, On Demand Group Ltd., will discuss their unfolding strategy to bring a comprehensive service approach to traditional and emerging digital television operators in the region and Southeastern Europe. On Demand Group is the London-based architect of popular on-demand TV brands including Virgin Media TV VOD, a staple offering to 3.5 million subscribers who logged over 314 million views between January and August. Company CEO Tony Kelly commented: “ODG are personally very excited about how we’re being engaged in emerging markets including UAE, Turkey, Greece and elsewhere. We witnessed this kind of early anticipation for competitive digital services in Western Europe and around the world and we worked right through it to bring telco and cable leaders like Virgin, Telekom Austria and others to long-term success.” In July the company disclosed its appointment by Greece’s Helenic Telecommunication Organisation S.A. (OTE) to provide an outsourced on-demand TV service. The company is providing its core services including assisting marketing to optimize uptake and buy rates. OTE has five million fixed lines and over 700,000 broadband customers. In addition to acquiring movies from major film studios and programs from TV networks globally, the On Demand Group fully manages the lifecycle of pay content and provides crucial marketing and branding capabilities. The company produces in-house an array of genre-targeted content (kids, entertainment, music and arts, etc.) in addition to providing video games for play over managed services. Its content specialization also includes hospitality television, as demonstrated by the tens of thousands of hotel rooms the company supports globally. On Demand Group is a subsidiary of global on-demand and IPTV solutions provider SeaChange International. Kelly will deliver this week’s second conference keynote with SeaChange’s CMO Simon McGrath.
